Astro Boy (1963)

Cowboy Bepop (1998)
Even though Cowboy Bepop is a younger anime in comparison to those mentioned above, it has nonetheless earned its place as a classic. Cowboy Bepop covers all of the bases– characters, plot, and soundtrack. There’s truly nothing not to love about protagonist, Spike Spiegel. He is not only the leader of Bepop (his spacecraft), he is also a rogue bounty hunter, taking his crew on various jobs and trying to escape his past life as a hitman, but it proves to be more challenging than expected.
Hajime no Ippo (Fighting Spirit, 2000)
The love for the sporting sub-genre is undeniable and Fighting Spirit took this sub-genre by storm. Fighting Spirit provides viewers with a healthy mix of action and character development. Ippo Makunouchi, is only in high school and after being seriously bullied, a professional boxer takes Ippo on as his student. Fighting Spirit highlights the hard work and mental and physical sacrifice it takes to become a champion. Join Ippo as he trains his way to the top and grows his confidence.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon, 1992)
Sailor Moon is one of the most well known and iconic magical girl animes to date. Filled with catchphrases and adorable transformations, this anime has become an important part of many young girls’ childhoods. Sailor Moon also helped create a home for anime in Western culture and remains relatable for generations to come.
