Anime Vocab Lesson: CHEAT SHEET

So, we know it’s the middle of summer, and the last thing you want to be doing is studying, so we thought we’d throw together this handy little cheat sheet so you can see all the anime vocab we’ve covered in one handy little place (because we’re considerate like that).

Check back frequently to freshen up your knowledge and to see what words we’ve added to the list! Just click the term to get an in-depth explanation with some useful examples, or use our cheeky little cheat sheet for quick reference:

 

Natto: A japanese delicacy made from fermented soy beans. Not for the faint of heart!

 

Dojikko: An adorable girl whose clumsiness plays into her cuteness. Not to be trusted with breakable objects…

 

4=DEATH: In Japanese culture, the number four is often equated with death. All your favorite anime probably reference it, the superstition is everywhere.love hina

Genki: A hiiighly energetic girl who often serves to cheer the protagonist on. Hyperactive to the extreeeme!

 

Tsundere: The tsundere character begins as a coldhearted individual but eventually warms up as time goes on.

 

Dandere: This character-type is a bit more shy or reserved, but often times very deep.

 

Kawaii: Adjective meaning CUUUUTE! But like.. super cute. Crazy cute. Too cute? Nahh..

 

Chibi: Art-style involving adorable caricatures of well-known characters with giant heads and tiny bodies, often used for comedic effect.

 

Ronin: A samurai without a master, forced to walk the earth taking odd jobs to make ends meet.

 

Kuudere: character-type that is extremely calm, almost emotionless.
