Even writing it down doesn’t feel real. But oh my god everyone, this is NOT A DRILL! Like many of you, I was slightly disappointed by the 12 episode season of Attack on Titan. I mean, we all waited four years for Season 2. I mean, 12 episodes are still better than 0 episodes, but I think we all just felt slightly let down.

Really, it was a guessing game after this most recent Saturday. How long are we going to have to wait for Season 3? Two or three years? Hopefully not another four. I was willing to wait, but I was really concerned about what would happen to the series and the fan support if there was another long break.

But like drunk Santa getting his dates wrong, it appears Christmas has come early. The final episode of Season 2 showed a card at the end of the Japanese airing indicating season 3 was coming in 2018.

My first thought was, “This is absolutely a fake.” But there’s even a video promoting Season 3 already via the Funimation YouTube page. (Warning: Possible spoilers for the final episode of Season 2.)

Now while I want to run down the streets, hugging and kissing every person I see, I’m going to restrain myself. What we don’t know yet is how many episodes this will be. My guess is that we will receive another 12-13 episode season, which I’m perfectly okay with. The 12 episode total for Season 2 definitely stung, but that was before any of us were aware that Season 3 was fewer than 18 months away. The 12 episode season doesn’t seem as bad in hindsight.

So tell me, how out of your minds are all of you? This is easily the greatest news I could have imagined for today. Less than 18 months, everyone!
