The Japanese animated feature, Batman Ninja, has had fans of anime and Batman excited ever since their announcement last year.
We’ve seen the first short trailer in Japanese, but now we have an in depth look at the chaos.
It’s scheduled for release in Japan in late April, but no other release dates have been announced. On the bright side, the fact that they put out an English trailer is a good sign for a western release. Here’s the original trailer in case you need to catch up:
We already knew that Batman Ninja would feature Batman taking on the Joker in ancient feudal Japan. We also knew that they are not alone. It was clear in the first trailer that the likes of Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Nightwing, Robin, and even Alfred would be showing up.
But NOW, we see the iconic flipping coin of Two-Face, a heavily armed man resembling Deathstroke, Gorilla Grodd, Bane, Poison Ivy, Red Robin, the Red Hood… even the Penguin.
We’ve got seriously impressive voice talent to look forward to, thanks to the likes of Tony Hale (Joker), Roger Craig Smith (Batman), Adam Croasdell (Alfred and Nightwing), Yuri Lowenthal (Robin), Tara Strong (Harley and Poison Ivy), Will Friedle (Red Robin and Red Hood), Tom Kenny (Penguin), and Fred Tatasciore (Gorilla Grodd and Deathstroke).
So now we know how Batman ends up in the past, as well. It turns out that it involves the villain named Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement device.
A talking gorilla with a time machine might not sound like it makes any sense, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t stoked.
