Ever wanted to learn web design or game programming, but didn’t know where to start? Disney is throwing its hat into the STEAM education ring — in Japan, at least! Get ready for Technologia School of Magic, where Disney faves meet computer wizardry.
What’s the Story?
Technologia School of Magic is to digital education what Kingdom Hearts is to RPGs.
Bring in some Disney classics, stir in a few anime protagonists, add some wild clothes… and voila! Except this time, you walk away with nearly a college degree’s worth of study time.
Our new heroes are (from left to right) Sakura, Akito, Rin, and Scol. Oh, and a floating blue cat. They’ll be your classmates as you dive into the world of web design, programming, and graphics. Each lesson integrates Disney favorites from Snow White to Frozen. And you’ll see a few familiar faces around campus, decked out in wizardly uniforms of their own!
There are plenty of big names on board, too. Voice actors like Aoi Yuki and Tomokazu Sugita lend their voices to the new characters. Grimgar, Ashes and Illusions character designer Mieko Hosoi created the new character designs and sweet outfits. Plus, Grimgar director Ryosuke Nakamura wrote and directed the game!
Time to Learn!
The visual novel style game will roll out new chapters on a regular basis. If you put in two hours a week, you can apparently finish the entire 100-hour course (40 hours basic learning, 60 hours applied skills) in about a year. Of course, you can go faster or slower if you like!
As you may have surmised, Technologia School of Magic isn’t cheap. Like any good educational software, it’s going to set you back a bit. And in this case, you’ll be sinking 128,000 yen into the full program. There are monthly payment options, though, which take the sticker shock down just a bit.
