Happy Valentine’s Day! Whether you plan on giving gifts, going to a fancy dinner, various events for couples, or just hanging out at home – it’s a great feeling to have someone to spend today with! However, if you’re at a loss for ideas, why not tie the night off with some anime? I mean, that’s really what makes every holiday better, isn’t it?
In A Relationship:
Maybe you’re in a relationship, maybe you’re married or in a civil partnership… no matter what classification it is, you’re happy and have a special someone to spend the day with so why not do something special together like catching up on a newer series like Your lie in April.
At the center of this series is a young man who is a genius piano player. Unfortunately all throughout his childhood his mother (who was also his teacher) abused him horribly both physically and emotionally leaving him with deep psychological scars. After her death he became unable to hear the notes any longer leaving him without the ability to play. Fast forward a couple of years and this young man meets another genius musician who plays the violin with the single intention of catching every eye in the room and having them trained squarely on her. Together, these two will help each other through some of their hardest and darkest times as a young man learns to love music again.
This is a personal favorite of mine that I cannot say enough good things about. Funny when it needs to be while also being tragic when it wants to be (and it wants to be pretty often), Your lie in April is a solid choice for the couple who want something that will satisfy everyone in the audience. Need drama? This series has you covered. Need a good sense of humor? Got it. Want moments where you’re certain your heart is going to break? Oh yeah, that’s covered in spades.
Your lie in April is only getting better and better as it goes on and so if you’re looking to start something that you can share with your honey look towards this series to satisfy that need.

In An Open Relationship
One of my favorite thoughts in life is that we all lead different lives and experience them in different ways. I’ve discussed those who are single and those who are in a relationship but now I’d like to talk to those of you who are in an open relationship. The people out there who walk to the beat of their own drum and are happy to share their love with the multiple people who are special to them. What kind of series do you recommend to someone with multiple special people in their lives? A harem of course!
In Ouran High School Host Club, Haruhi is an honor student at a school for the rich and elite. One day she accidentally finds the school’s host club and while trying to escape she breaks a very expensive vase. In order to pay them back she joins the host club and eventually becomes a host herself.
It’s not often that you get to describe a series as a classic but Ouran High School Host Club certainly fits that bill. A series that will never go out of style or lose its charm, Ouran is a series that everyone can find something to laugh about whether they are a casual anime fan or a hardcore otaku.

Finally we come to our last relationship category… the dreaded ‘it’s complicated’ status. These can be the most difficult to explain to anyone but believe me when I say that there is an anime series out there that understands what you’re going through and that series is called Oreimo.
In this series, Kyousuke is a hard working high school student who has a completely distant relationship with his younger sister who on the outside seems like a typical girl. On the inside however she’s secretly a super otaku who wants to have friends to share her hobby with which leads to the two siblings coming together and forming one of the most infamous relationships in recent anime history.
I won’t spoil what exactly happens within these episodes but believe me when I say that after watching this series you’re going to feel a whole lot better about whatever situation you might be in because it can’t be nearly as complicated as what these two end up going through.
