Fairy Tail: The End And A BeginningWell, everyone, it’s official! Fairy Tail will be back for one final season in 2018! Hiro Mashima, the creator of Fairy Tail, announced on Twitter that fans everywhere should expect a final season 0f the show to air sometime in 2018. The key word there is “sometime”, as no official date has been announced. This is thrilling news considering the last time any new episodes aired was March of 2016 with Fairy Tail Zero. …Nope, I can’t believe it’s been that long either.

This news also comes hot on the trail of a sad realization—the final chapter of the Fairy Tail manga, number 545, just hit shelves.

Fairy Tail: The End And A BeginningWhile I am nothing but excited for a new season of Fairy Tail, this news is rather bittersweet. It’s never fun to see a show (especially one like Fairy Tail) come to an end. Since 2009, there have been 277 episodes, two movies, and nine or ten OVAs. Hell, the manga has been around for 11 years. It’s going to be weird to have a cornerstone like Fairy Tail not be there anymore. However, it’s always great to know a show is ending ahead of time; it somehow makes each new episode a little more special. It will be a joy to watch Fairy Tails farewell tour. I, like all fans, just hope the ending is satisfying…

Thank you, Hiro Mashima. Thank you for everything.
