When it comes to showcasing our love for anime we often reach for figures, not just any old figure, mind you. We go for Figma’s or Nendoroid’s, but which one is best?!
For starters lets look at Figma’s. These figures are, well, taller than Nenodroid’s and tend to be on the same scale as a standard action figure. They tend to match their on screen anime doubles in the sense that they more or less portray them as they would be. They have pose-able joints which allow you to pose them to your heart’s content; frankly this is a guilty pleasure for us.
Nendoroid’s on the other hand are freaking adorable, chibi figures. What they lack in size, they do not lack in accessories. While both Figma’s and Nendoroid’s have accessories, they tend to be made more for the Nendoroid figures. Nendoroid’s tend to also get released quicker, at least from what we have seen. Chances are if you have an anime you like, they will make a Nendoroid for it. …Downside to a Nendoroid: they lack a lot of movable joints.
When it comes down to how much you need to throw down for them it varies. These sort of collectibles can range from 45USD to 200USD depending on the type, newness, size and print amount. Many Figma and Nendoroid only get 1 print cycle, MAYBE 2 if there is a feverish demand for them. Either way, you are going to need to hurt wallet-chan to get what you want.
Lastly, it comes down to preference! We personally feel no bias one way or the other – WE WANT ‘EM ALL. Which do you guys opt for??
