Fire Emblem Warriors takes the button mashing joy from Dynasty Warriors and combines them with a Fire Emblem look. Fans of the Fire Emblem series have waited an awfully long time for this adaptation. So was it worth the wait?
In short, yes. It feels like you are playing a regular Fire Emblem game, but you get to romp through hordes of enemies.
It’s like prancing through a field of dandelions and hacking away at the weeds.
Having the Dynasty Warriors gameplay of tackling forts and fighting droves of enemies adds an amazing layer of awesome-sauce. Of course, it also caters to the Fire Emblem games mechanics. Taking the bond system to empower your followers helps cement the game further. They even went as far as to add a permadeath mode where fallen allies will not return.
The game pulls characters from the latest Nintendo 3DS releases and older entries into the Fire Emblem franchise. Having such a massive roster of characters to swap between always ensures prime replay value. Personally, I favor Chrom or Camilla versus the main character of the game itself.
…Speaking of main characters, you’ll notice a few awesome additions to the Fire Emblem world. Sure, they aren’t super likable right off the bat, but they grow on you. There isn’t much of a unique storyline (bad guys summon bad creature, we as the main character must stop them in the name of all that is good)… But face it, we aren’t playing this game for story. We just want to crush droves of our enemies under our boot and feel epic.
If you own a Nintendo Switch and have a love for Fire Emblem or Dynasty Warriors, then I highly recommend you check out this game.
