I’m a sucker for a movie theater. Even with obscene popcorn and drink prices, there’s an inescapable allure to a cinema.
For the last year and a half, I’ve attended as many anime screenings as I can, not just because of my job, but because I want to support the anime industry. I want anime to keep pushing into the US; I want it to invade theaters. We’ve made it over the wall, but I want us to smash it. And today, Funimation made the first hole.
Mark your calendars for July 10th and 11th; Attack on Titan is coming to US theaters in a huge way.
Funimation Films will present “Attack on Titan Season 2 Movie: Roar of Awakening”. It is a recap movie for Season 2. But that’s not all—at the end of the recap movie, the World Premiere of Attack on Titan Season 3 will begin!
As far as I can remember, Funimation is giving American audiences three things I’ve never seen before.
- They are premiering a TV season in a theater.
- They are premiering an anime TV season in a theater. And
- We are getting an anime season premiere BEFORE JAPAN
