Give a Warm Welcome to the Winter Simulcasts On Viewster

It’s that magical time of the year once again. The time where we release some new simulcasts! We’re very excited to let you all start watching the following simulcasts immediately after you finish reading this post. We’ve kept things under wraps until now, but let’s just say we haven’t revealed everything up our sleeves quite yet, so check back again later. However until then, enjoy the following simulcasts for free!

Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!

I have a girlfriend who loves bishonen characters. LOVES them. As in has me scanning each new season of anime and alerting her if I come across any good series with bishies in them. Why am I telling you this? Because this is my grand proclomation to the world that if you love bishonen characters, Viewster has picked up the perfect winter simulcast for you: Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!

Story

Five beautiful high school boys are members of the Defense Club which basically does nothing. One day a mysterious pink creature appears named Wombat who gives the boys bracelets and charges them with protecting the Earth.

Why You Should Care

– The director of this series has worked on titles that range all the way from Gundam to Gintama, Shinji Takamatsu. Can you think of someone with a more perfect resume for this title than that? Meanwhile the person in charge of series composition, Michiko Yokote, has worked on some pretty fine titles themself with Squid Girl and Genshiken to their name.

– Are you tired of magical girl series? Well then let’s shake things up with a magical boy series instead!

What I’m Expecting

Here is my sincere hope for this series: that no one on the staff takes this series too seriously. Should this series remain as campy as it sounds, it could be one of the better shows of the season and may even turn into a surprise hit with fans all around the world. At least that’s my hope. Either way I’m already excited for this one to premiere so that I can dive in head first!

Death Parade

Looking for something a bit darker this season? Something that will keep you on the edge of your seat as the plot twists and turns? Look no further than the latest simulcast to join the Viewster library, Death Parade!

Story

This series takes place in a mysterious bar located in the middle of nowhere. People arrive in pairs and are met by a bartender who informs them that they must play games against each other with their lives on the line. What secrets do these people hide within themselves and who are the mysterious people who run this bar and force people to play these games?

Why You Should Care

– Originally a short created for the Young Animators Training Project in 2013, the concept proved so popular that it’s now being turned into a full length TV series with animation by famed studio Madhouse.

What I’m Expecting

I never saw the original short that this series is based off of but I’ve heard all about it which is why I’m so excited to see this series. Dark twists and turns are expected from the majority of the episodes so if you’re looking for something bit more psychological and cerebral than Death Parade is the series for you.

The Rolling Girls

Get hyped because if you don’t you won’t have the energy to keep up with this series or its characters! Viewster is proud to announce that The Rolling Girls will be joining the Viewster library starting this season!

Story

Ten years after the Great Tokyo War all the prefectures of Japan have become their own independent nations which now like to fight, feud and squabble with each other over land. Four girls from Saitama have been given the job of riding around Japan on their motorcycles to settle disputes but that job is proving to be no easy task.

Why You Should Care

Do you like Attack on Titan? Well this series is the highly anticipated follow up from the same production house, WIT Studio.

What I’m Expecting

This is going to be a hyper series that dials it up to eleven every step of the way. If you’re not ready to hang on for dear life and watch every last second of footage in order to keep up with the pace you’re only going to be left behind!

Yatterman Night

If you were to ask me point blank to tell you all about Yatterman, I would not be able to do it. Sadly despite watching more than a couple of anime series over the years, the Yatterman franchise is one blank in my history that I’ve yet to fill in. Finally I’m getting to correct that this season by checking out the latest addition to the Yatterman franchise, Yatterman Night.

Story

A band of great thieves called Doronbo do battle with the Yattermen but lose and are banished to a remote land. Rising up from this band are the main characters Doronjo, Boyacky and Tonzura.

Why You Should Care

– This appears to be a much darker twist on the Yatterman franchise.

– The director/writer team that brought us Muromi-san, Tatsuya Yoshihara and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, are teaming up once again to bring us this story.

– Leading the cast will be Eri Kitamura (Karen Araragi in Bakemonogatari, Ami Kawashima in Toradora) as Doronjo.

What I’m Expecting

As I’ve said, this is going to be an entirely new entity to me. I’m going in as a blank slate waiting to be filled with new characters, stories and information. I’m hoping it will be a fun ride that we can all take together.

World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman

One of my most anticipated series of the season is World Break so it’s with great pleasure that I am able to say that Viewster will be adding this series to their lineup this month!

Story

In this world there is a private high school where the students are made up of those with memories of their past lives; either they were once Shirogane who defeated enemies with weapons or they were Kuroma who wiped out enemies with magic. At the start of the series, we meet our main character named Moroha Haimura who has memories of being both a Shirogane and a Kuroma.

Why You Should Care

– This is a series that is bound to have a little bit of everything; action, romance, comedy, drama… the works!

– This isn’t director Takayuki Inagaki’s first time to the rodeo as he’s also directed Desert Punk, Indian Summer, Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse and others. He’s also brought along an old friend in the form of Hiroshi Yamaguchi (Desert Punk, Rosario + Vampire) to handle the series composition.

– Leading the cast as Moroha is Kaito Ishikawa who you might recognize as the voice of Tobio in Haikyuu and Tigre in Lord Marksman and Vanadis).

What I’m Expecting

This is on my list of most anticipated series of the season for a reason. Based on a light novel, I’m very interested in seeing how this series makes the transition into a visual format. It’s sink or swim time for World Break and I’m standing by ready to watch to see how it fares.

Fafner Exodus

Hold onto your seats Fafner fans because Viewster is bringing the latest part of the story, Fafner in the Azure: Dead Aggressor: Exodus, straight to you!

Story

This series will pick up from where the movie left off so if you haven’t seen that movie yet you’re going to want to in the very near future.

Why You Should Care

– For you mecha fans, this is going to be your ‘go to’ series of the season. Fafner is an enduring series. Despite not ever reaching massives levels of popularity, it has managed to live on in the hearts and minds of its fans and kept coming back no matter how large the odds were against it.

– Expect a slightly different feel from this one as the director is changing from Toshimasa Suzuki to Takashi Noto and Nobuyoshi Habara.

What I’m Expecting

If you’ve never seen any of the Fafner franchise this might be a challenge for you to get into so I’m suggesting some homework for those who are new to the series. Other than that though, I’m expecting this to be an interesting mecha series that delivers the hard hitting action!

Samurai Warriors

The winter season is right on top of us even as you read this which means it’s time to reveal a brand new show which will be joining the Viewster library! This time the series in question is a period series taking place in the Warring States period of Japan’s history called Samurai Warriors.

Story

The story of this series follows the Sanada brothers who have both sworn an oath to fight together to the bitter end (which already tells me that this is not going to be a happy, fluffy series). When the story begins, Toyotomi Hideyoshi is about to unify the realm with only Odawara Castle left to conquer. The battle is fierce but as one side starts to gain an advantage, the younger Sanada brother named Yukimura rides in with his brother close behind.

Why You Should Care

– The crew for this series includes the director of another series available here on Viewster, La Corda D’Oro, Kojin Ochi. Admittedly this series is nothing like that series but it’ll be interesting to see what he can do when he stretches his legs a little.

– Meanwhile in the cast, veteran voice actors Daisuke Ono (Sebastian in Black Butler, Jotaro in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Sinbad in Magi) and Takeshi Kusao (Trunks in Dragon Ball Z, Parn in Record of Lodoss War, Dororo in Sgt. Frog) will be leading as Nobuyuki and Yukimura respectively.

What I’m Expecting

Period pieces are always a mixed bag for me. Occasionally they can be really interesting and fun to watch and other times they are dreadfully boring. While I’m always going to hope that this series falls in the first category, I’m also prepared for the worst case scenario of it falling into the latter category. Samurai Warriors will be a good series who dig the action and romance of this time in Japanese history though and will hopefully make a few new believers from those who will try to come in for just a taste.
