Warner Bros. Japan and Toho released a new trailer for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Chapter I. We’re STOKED.

Before I recap the trailer, yes, you did read that right—Chapter I. As any JoJo fan could tell you, Diamond is Unbreakable (DiU) is loooong. And thankfully, JoJo has a great director at its helm, Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer, Three… Extremes, and Ace Attorney). Miike knew that trying to cram the entirety of the DiU manga into a 2-hour movie would be irresponsible. So, they’ve set it up to have the possibility for sequels! (Provided this movie is successful, of course.)

I have to say, I’m impressed just based on the characters alone. I’m actually pretty thrilled with how they all look.

Look at Josuke! That is perfect. The hair. The costume. The feel of it all is perfect. It also helps that the actor playing Josuke, Kento Yamazaki, has played some pretty enjoyable live-action anime characters before, such as L in Death Note.

We also get to see our first “looks” at Stands. Presumably, we’ll get to see a fair amount of them in the movie, but for now, we’ve definitely had a look at Aqua Necklace, and maaaaybe Red Hot Chili Pepper (we see a yellow hand grab a foot. You tell me).

But like all amazing things coming from Japan, there has been a release date listed for Japan ONLY. So, if you’re lucky enough to be in Japan around August 4th, congratulations and please don’t rub it in too hard.

Do you feel like the trailer is doing Jojo justice and would you see it if it somehow got released elsewhere? Let us know in the comments below!
