Liborek3 attended an event called “Bones Night ‘Akushon Anime’ wa Iizo!” which included the attendance of Studio Bones co-founder/President/producer Masahiko Minami and director Masahiro Ando. While on stage, the two discussed the new Mob Psycho project, thus leading to a feverous tweetstorm from attendees regarding Season 2.
I feel I can speak for everyone who watched Season 1… Thank god and no duh.
Season 1 of Mob Psycho 100 was easily one of the best, and one of my favorite, anime of 2016. Nothing short of the apocalypse would keep Season 2 from happening. So really, this is not a “Season 2 is going to happen” announcement as much as it is a “They are working on Season 2 as we speak” announcement.
Naturally, we don’t have a release date yet. HOWEVER, I have an educated guess. The announcement for the first season of Mob Psycho 100 came on December 1, 2015. The first episode aired on July 11, 2016. That’s roughly seven and a half months. So seven and a half months from now puts us somewhere in March of 2018, which is about two weeks before the start of the Spring 2018 anime season.
…Granted, that December of 2015 announcement was for a 12 episode season and we don’t currently know how long season 2 will be. But I feel safe in assuming that by next summer, we will have Mob back in our lives.
And one last thing. If you are unaware, the man known under his pseudonym of One is the creator of both Mob Psycho 100 and One-Punch Man. There’s a remote chance we’ll have Season 2 of Mob Psycho 100 and One-Punch Man airing at the same time!
