PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still holding strong at the top of the charts of the most played Steam games worldwide. The development team at Bluehole have been making regular updates and fixes to the game ever since it dropped onto the market, but sometime in the near future they will be adding an entirely new playing field.

Up until now, when players are dropped into PUBG they always parachute onto the same island with the same buildings and random weapon drops; the new map promises to add a whole branch to the game.

A new desert themed battlefield has been announced with details that will make this map seriously different from its predecessor. For example: The buildings present on the normal map all top out at around three stories; the standard map is really built to encourage moving around the whole island and looting from various places. It encourages the players to make full use of the island landscape available to them. This new desert map will feature a dense metropolis of buildings that rise much higher into the sky.

Buildings look to be at least seven stories tall. Taller bigger buildings will offer a much different game play experience. Before, you would probably loot a one or two-story house and then be forced to keep moving before you were found out.

The new map almost adds a vertical third dimension to PUBG. Sniping perch anyone? You’ll be able to find completely new vantage points and see much farther around this map.

Its cityscape also offers a new stadium to explore and some sort of temple. We’ll have to be on the lookout for more details as they come out for this addition to the PUBG world. We don’t know when this new map will be available for play, but this is good news for the future of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Hopefully, this desert map is the first of many new battlefields to come.
