Sword Art Online (SAO) – you either love it or hate it. This post isn’t for you haters.

Fans were treated to a little bonus at the end of Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, which dropped in Japan and worldwide earlier this year. The following message is seen after the credits:

SAO will return

And that’s all it took to ignite fanboys’ fiery anticipation. This is, after all, the ONLY hint of the series continuing. There was plenty of speculation, but nothing concrete until that teaser. Fans have been patiently waiting for more news since.sao will return Sword Art Online: Season 3 Teaser

Bandai Namco and Dimps have announced Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC to launch worldwide in early 2018.

Play as the protagonist, battle against opponents using new weapons and further customize gameplay by creating skills and abilities. Interact with characters from the Sword Art Online original novels, anime and previous games as you navigate a world that is vastly personalized and visually enhanced.

Check out 8 minutes of gameplay here.

Given that everyone who works on or with the show will be in attendance, the chances are pretty good that they’ll have news on SAO season 3 at Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten 2017 this fall . The show’s producer, A-1 Pictures, is bringing everyone together and playing up the movie’s success, so they’d have to be crazy not to capitalize on the opportunity.

Twitter and the blogosphere are blowing up with news-hungry fans eager for the slightest morsel of gossip. We’ll all have to wait until the expo though. I doubt that A-1 Pictures is going to let anything slip between now and then. They’re banking on this event being a huge spectacle!

Quick poll for everyone. Sword Art Online – yea or nay? Let us know in the comments below.
