Senran Kagura is an exciting series, especially if you’re into buxom ninja babes. It’s a lighthearted romp with plenty to keep you busy, whether you’re into brawlers or music games. It’s a multifaceted game that anyone can get into, but which entries are most worth picking up? If you’re a newcomer to this awesome, racy series, here are the ones you should pick up and play first. Trust me on this.
Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus
This game is more than a little bit ridiculous, but that’s what makes it so darn fun. Choose between 20 different characters in this third-person Dynasty Warriors-like adventure, where the order of the day is slashing up your opponent until you’re declared victor. This usually means your opponent has been left with shreds of her outfit left clinging to her body, humiliated on the field. Sound sexy? It’s can be, but moreso, it’s hilarious and that’s what makes the game work so well.
Juggling enemies with air dashes and ultimate attacks will keep you busy, and there’s plenty here to ensure you don’t get bored. Combat is satisfying, especially when you watch that combo number rise all the way past 1000. If you love to hack and slash your way to the top, this entry is a great choice to start with.
Senran Kagura: Bon Appetit!
This spinoff of the main Senran Kagura series is a challenging rhythm game skewed toward an adult audience that can be enjoyed by just about anyone — especially if you like your sundaes with Senran Kagura girls on top.
During a special cooking competition, you’ll get a dish at the beginning of each match that you and an opponent must create. Each girl is assigned a station and their own cooking tools. You don’t ever actually do any cooking though, as far as gameplay goes. Instead, you whip up the tasty meals assigned to you by way of pressing buttons in the time to the beat. That’s where the fun lies. If you end up losing, you get drizzled with toppings and must writhe around in sexy poses. Better not lose then!
Senran Kagura: Estival Versus
Like the other main Senran Kagura games, you’ll be flitting about in Estival Versus as various nubile ninjas in various stages that ask you to simply beat up the hundreds of enemies that swarm around you. It’s fast-moving and frenetic at every turn, with high-powered combos, satisfying air juggles and devastating special attacks. Like the rest of the games in the series, your character’s clothing affects how the action plays out. If your ninja is fighting in her normal street clothes, she’s got a regular set of attacks and blocks with which she can combat enemies.
Senran Kagura: Estival Versus is a stylistic, silly romp with characters that’ll no doubt have you grinning like an idiot with its bizarre narrative, strange characters, and over-the-top jokes and action. You’ll want to check it out in addition to the other two games on this list if you’re looking for an easy way to get into the series.
Which one are you going to check out first? OR, if you’re a seasoned veteran, what’s your favorite Senran Kagura game?
