Tokyo Ghoul fans have been abuzz over the last week, mulling over rumors of the meaning of the series’ “climax”. A lot of work has gone into Sui Ishida’s manga lately, and fans have been concerned it means a possible end in the future. Unfortunately, fans were right.

The end truly has come for Ishida’s Tokyo Ghoul:re; the manga series will conclude in 3 chapters.

Chapter 176 of Tokyo Ghoul:re was been published in Weekly Young Jump (grab its spoilers here), and it was confirmed to be the climax of the series. This will definitely sting some fans as the first season of Tokyo Ghoul:re’s anime adaptation will soon come to an end as well.

It’s not all doom and gloom, however!

Creators have already confirmed that a 4th season of Tokyo Ghoul is in the works & scheduled for a release in October.

That means that it won’t be long before more Tokyo Ghoul content is available.

For those unfamiliar with Tokyo Ghoul, the story follows Ken Kaneki. He’s a student who survives an encounter with an unusual date, who turns out to be a ghoul. After surviving this attack, he wakes up to realize that he himself has become a ghoul… And in order to live, Kaneki needs to eat human flesh. Luckily he’s taken in by a group of ghouls at the café Anteiku, who help him reintegrate into society.

Tokyo Ghoul: re is set two years after the events of the original series and follows Haise Sasaki, a leader of a special squad of investigators who bears a striking resemblance to Ken Kaneki from the original series…
