Valentine’s Day or Single’s Awareness Day: For some of you out there this means a day filled with love and affection as you spend the day with your significant other basking in each other’s presence. For some of you out there it’s a day of woe and misery because you have to watch others being happily in love. And for some of you it means 50% off chocolate on the 15th. No matter what category you fall into I think we can all agree on one thing… it’s a great day to watch anime! But what anime should you watch? With so many to choose from here on Viewster I’ve compiled a list based on what your relationship status is set to on Facebook to help you decide.
Single (And Proud)
There is absolutely zero shame in having your status set to single. For some of you, being single is a choice that you love and relish every single day (see what I did there?). If you fit into that category, the perfect series for you is In that case I’m here to tell you that Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] is just right for you.
In this gorgeous series, Emiya is a high school student who is pulled into what is called the Holy Grail War. In this war, magic users from all over will gather in one city and call forth servants (heroes from throughout history) who will engage in a battle to the death with each other in order to obtain the Holy Grail which is said to grant a wish of both the master and the servant. Among his opponents in this battle is the beautiful and popular Rin Tohsaka who is in this fight to win and she’ll stop at nothing to get what she wants.
One of the great things about this series, particularly for people who are really relishing their single lives, is that Rin is a character much like you. She’s strong, independant and passionate. What she cares about the most is getting her hands on the Holy Grail with the help of her servant Archer. Rin doesn’t need love or a relationship in order to be happy because she has her eyes set on the goal in front of her. Of course, when she does decide to go after someone who has caught her eye she’s the one who makes the first move and you know why? Because she’s chosen to break out of her singleness. She didn’t have to do it, she chose to do it and that’s pretty fierce in its own way if I do say so myself.
Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] is an action series from start to finish and will keep you glued to your seat this February 14th. Filled with beautiful animation, exciting battle sequences and characters that you can’t help but cheer on (even the villains are awesome to root for!), this is the series that you should be consuming this Valentine’s Day!

Single (And Hating It)
At this point I’d like to talk to all of you out there who recently changed their status to single and might be feeling a bit of anger or general resentment towards the person who made you that way. If that description fits you I have the perfect series for you: Skip Beat!
In this series, Kyoko moves to Tokyo with her childhood friend and ends up supporting him while he chases after his dream of being an idol. What she doesn’t realize however is that he’s just using her and that he actually doesn’t care about her at all. When Kyoko finds out she vows to get revenge by entering the same business as him and becoming even more popular than he is!
If you’re recently single, Kyoko will become your new heroine in life. At first she is a doormat, easily pushed around and tricked but before long Kyoko finds her backbone and spirit becoming a beautiful rose complete with razor sharp thorns that will pierce anyone who tries to pluck her. Kyoko was pushed around for far too long and didn’t deserve the treatment that she got but over the course of 25 episodes she’ll show everyone just what she’s truly made of and turn a lot of heads along the way.
Everyone in the audience who has ever been jilted by a lover or dealt with far too much crap from someone would be well advised to check out this series this Valentine’s Day and memorize the one key thing that Kyoko can teach all of us: You deserve the best and shouldn’t settle for anything less!
No matter what your relationship status is, I hope that you have a great Valentine’s Day/Singles Awareness Day! Which anime will you be watching on the 14th? Sound off in the comments below and let us know! If the couple’s anime is more your style or your current relationship status, check out our other Valentine’s post!
