Underrated and Awesome: Silver Spoon Will Get You Hooked

To hear someone describe Silver Spoon, you’d think that it was another boring high school series made even more boring by the fact that it’s largely about learning how to be a farmer. A high school series that takes place at an agricultural school? Yawn! You couldn’t be more wrong as Silver Spoon is one of the more fantastic series to come out over the last few years that hasn’t gotten nearly enough love from the world.

Created by the same person who brought us Fullmetal Alchemist and directed by Tomohiko Ito (Sword Art Online), this is a series about growing up and figuring out what you want, not only from your life but also from yourself.

So what do you need to know before you get into this series? That’s what I’m here to tell you!

If you don’t want to know where your food comes from, don’t watch this series.

With farming being the central theme of the series, food plays a big part in the series… or more specifically where it comes from. If you don’t like the idea of seeing where your daily meat and eggs comes from, you’ll want to stay far away from this one because they are going to show you in gross detail exactly where your meals are from.

Pay attention to the characters.

As I said, farming is the central theme of the series but the real story lies in the characters and their growth over time. Many of these characters know exactly what they want to do when they grow up but others have no idea and those are the ones who are going to win you over as they figure it out for themselves.
