Damn you, Blizzard. You’ve figured us out.
The gaming mega-company is known for some of the world’s most popular, including:
- World of Warcraft
- Heroes of the Storm
Now speaking of these mega franchises, Blizzard recently announced they’d be releasing some new Heroes of the Storm character skins via DLC. Sure, some add-on skins are no big deal – they release this digital filler crap all the time. It’s just some garbage extras that suckers drop money on.
But it seems those crafty bastards have found a way to get me excited about DLC. Ugh.
Their devious marketing team created a promo video that managed to capture my attention. The animated short features 3 characters from their games, each with a flashy anime-mecha-makeover. They’re pitted in an intense combat, reminiscent of some legendary Gundam battle.
I hate to admit it, but it’s pretty sweet. Check it out:
Dammit, now I want to buy all the character skins. Freaking digital costumes. I am now a sucker.
Perhaps the reason I get so pumped over these kinds of videos is because I love character crossovers. Back in the day, I went ape-shit over Marvel vs. Capcom… But the 80’s squealing metal guitars don’t hurt either.
Take note, gaming industry – if you want to sell people stuff, just package your sales pitch into something awesome. Mechas are a safe bet. I mean, Blizzard seems to be pretty good at taking my money, so just copy whatever they do.
