It’s about time you upgraded your phone anyway… Does your battery even make it through lunchtime?!
Pokemon GO loyalists with iPhone 5s in hand need to panic: Game developer Niantic is ending Pokémon GO support for Apple devices incapable of upgrading to iOS 11. For those not in the upgrade-know, this means older iPhone models like the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C,will be affected by the incoming update, coming at the conclusion of February.
For those who keep ignoring that software update but do have a newer model, you won’t be able to access your account, use your pokécoins, or use items in your bags.
Niantic has been steadily making improvements, like additional catchable creatures and weather systems, to the game since its initial release in July 2016. Its most notable update as of late added enhanced augmented reality features.
So, since we know you’ll be updating your phone, here’s a list of 5 things you can do with that old (and now completely useless) device:
- Turn it into a security camera (just need an app and a tripod)
- Give it to your sibling to demolish
- Demolish it yourself
- Recreate your own version of the Lil’ Wayne phone dunk commercials
- Use it as a media streamer (AirPlay just requires AppleTV)
Or you could just sell it. (yeah RIGHT.)
