Hold on kids. Your day is about to get freaking amazing. According to The Japan Times, Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party convened recently to form an official government body.
Meet the “Japan Ninja Council”, whose goal is to promote the “glamours of ninjas around the world”.
By why, you ask?
The Ninja Council (yasss) shared their upcoming goals for promoting ninja-ism in Japan and across the globe:
- Support relevant cities, such as Iga in Mie Prefecture and Koka in Shiga Prefecture
- Promote relevant themed manga and anime
- Open a museum, detailing ninja’s history
And hopefully create events!
They plan on completing these initiatives in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. They’re hoping that having more attractions that appeal to foreigners will increase Olympic tourism, which leads to huge revenue dollars. Keiji Furuya, the, Chairman of the House of Representatives Rules and Administration Committee and leader of the lawmakers’ group on ninjas, explained to attendees just how popular they are around the world.
Do yourself a favor and check out their website: Japan Ninja Council.
From the site, the organization describes itself as follows,
JAPAN NINJA COUNCIL is the world’s only official organization composed of groups including municipalities, organized with the aim to spread the culture of the Japanese Ninja, something that has long been veiled in mystery.
YAASSSSSSS!!! But I digress,
Looking ahead to the year 2020, various groups have come together to form the council under the nationwide network of local governments, universities, tourism associations, private organizations and business institutions. The council is designed to promote tourism, culture, and to contribute to the local economy through the Ninja, sparing no effort in researching, collecting and offering the information on Ninja to others.
You’ll also find the history of ninja in Japan, maps with relevant ninja locations, and information for supporters. Plus, they have ninja Syuriken origami for sale. And ninja social media, where you can share your own ninja pics!
This may be the most amazing thing I’ve ever heard. I am so happy right now.
